How is Depression with Bipolar Disorder Diagnosed?
It is known that a disorder of bipolar nature cannot be detected easily. Cases have been revealed where recognition of this disorder have come up so late that even after ten years it has not been diagnosed. Bipolar disorder’s diagnosis is difficult because when a person affected with bipolar disorder is in his mania mood, he/she is high on spirits and is more energetic than when in normal phase. But when they tend to fall for the depression phase, they try to seek advices and suggestions for normal depressive actions, and can be therefore wrongly treated instead for bipolar disorder. Moreover such a person does even show symptoms of psychiatric problems. This is because bipolar disorder shares its symptoms with that of schizophrenia and anxiety disorder. Unfortunately, in a lab even bipolar disorder cannot be detected. A diagnosis path for this disorder can be the diagnostic exam which consists of details and history of a patient and his/her relatives. If during this course the symptoms are correctly identified, then the diagnosis becomes quite easily treatable. For bipolar disorder diagnosis, a patient has to pass through three processes. First is the medication phase where in a patient is given medical aid for stabilization of one’s mood. This phase is followed by the psychotherapy and finally the group stage.
